This building housed the generators and air compressors (for the foghorns)

Point Reyes Lighthouse Building

Before electricity was brought to the lighthouse in the 1930’s, the foghorns were steam-powered. This required something like 130 pounds of coal an hour which the keeper had to haul himself (down that 30 story set of stairs).
